Tuhūratia Exploded
This exhibition identity was designed to emphasise the ‘exploded’ concept, the colour palette intended to energise visitors, and the text and content curated to encourage curiosity in technology. On a tight budget and timeframe I was also tasked with the spatial design. Large digital photographs from artist Richard Parry, both digital and analogue interactives were displayed next to MOTAT collection items. The project team explored innovative ways to make content accessible from an ao Māori perspective – the te reo Māori was developed with an external contractor within an ao Māori context. Karla Bo Johnson (Senior Exhibitions Curator) considered the atua of Māui (who is known to be curious, inquisitive and to ask questions) to inspire visitors kia Māui tō rite – to be like Māui. I was also able to encourage and art direct the bi-lingual marketing campaign.
